To enhance emergency response capabilities in extreme environments, the National Emergency Medical Rescue Team (Hainan) has recently selected elite members to participate in and complete a specialized maritime emergency rescue training program at the International School of Offshore Engineering & Training Center (SIOETC).1

The training covers practical subjects such as maritime survival, helicopter underwater egress, fire fighting, lifeboat operation, and wilderness first aid. As the southernmost national-level emergency medical rescue team in China, its members need to routinely respond to challenges including typhoons, maritime disasters, and long-distance maritime medical evacuation of the injured and ill. Through the OPITO-certified BOSIET course, the participants have fully mastered emergency response capabilities for offshore operations, laying a solid foundation for ensuring their own safety and that of their teams in sudden accidents. Meanwhile, the emergency medical rescue capacity of Hainan Province has been further enhanced towards professionalization and internationalization.

The training was conducted through practical sessions relying on professional facilities such as full-scale helicopter simulator cabins and maritime life-saving training pools, with all participating members passing the graduation certification. The achievements of this training will be transformed into standardized courses, gradually covering all team members, and helping to create a "Hainan Model" of maritime medical rescue featuring "integration of peacetime and wartime."

Next, the National Emergency Medical Rescue Team (Hainan) will join hands with the National General Hospital of Emergency Medicine, Hainan MSA (Maritime Safety Administration), aviation authorities and other relevant departments to conduct multi-department comprehensive drills. It will continuously enhance the rapid response capability in dealing with major public health emergencies, so as to provide safety guarantees and medical support for the construction of Hainan Free Trade Port.
