SIOETC | NEBOSH IGC
International General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety

International General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety

Turn global HSE standards into site-ready practice. Learn the “why,” master the “how,” and apply it on real equipment.

Course Overview

The NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) builds essential competence to manage health and safety across high-risk industries. At SIOETC, we deliver the IGC through a scenario-based, hands-on model that connects international best practice with day-to-day realities in offshore, marine, wind energy, shipyard, manufacturing, and construction operations.

Our faculty are NEBOSH-qualified tutors with corporate HSE management experience; many also hold China’s National Registered Safety Engineer credential. This blend of global qualification and frontline practice means the course speaks the language of both audits and the job site.

Who Should Attend
   •   HSE managers, supervisors, coordinators
   •   Frontline leaders (permit issuers/receivers, PTW controllers)
   •   Maintenance, engineering, and operations personnel
   •   EPC/EPCC contractors and subcontractors
   •   University students and professionals seeking a globally recognized credential

Learning Outcomes

Graduates will be able to:
   •   Embed an HSE management system aligned with international standards and legal frameworks.
   •   Identify hazards and assess risks using structured, auditable methods (RA/JHA).
   •   Apply the hierarchy of control and verify effectiveness with leading/lagging indicators.
   •   Operate critical controls: PTW, energy isolation/LOTO, hot work, contractor management, and MOC.
   •   Plan for emergencies and lead effective incident investigations that drive CAPA and continual improvement.

What Sets SIOETC Apart (Hands-On Facilities)

We make knowledge stick by letting learners see it, touch it, and do it on full-scale training rigs:
   •   Confined Space Simulator
Permit control, atmospheric testing (O₂/LEL/H₂S), ventilation/purge, tripod & retrieval, attendant/entrant roles, comms discipline.
   •   Work-at-Height Simulator
Anchor selection, full-body harness inspection/donning, horizontal/vertical lifelines, fall factors & swing-fall demos, basic rescue.
   •   Firefighting Simulator
Fire classes & media selection, first-response tactics, extinguisher drills, smoke/heat awareness, evacuation & muster.
   •   Energy Isolation / LOTO Demonstrator
Hazardous energy mapping, lock/tag/try, group lockout, blinds/spools for process isolation, hot-work interfaces.
   •   PPE Selection & Fit Station
Respiratory/eye/face/hand/hearing protection: selection, fit checks, maintenance, storage.

These assets turn paperwork and checklists into repeatable, muscle-memory skills.

Teaching Approach
   •   Scenario-Driven: Real cases from platforms, wind farms, ports, and shipyards.
   •   Do-While-You-Learn: Every major concept is paired with a drill or decision game.
   •   Template-First: Train on the exact documents your team will use.
   •   Bilingual Support: English/Chinese delivery and materials for seamless stakeholder communication.
   •   Coaching & Feedback: Assignment clinics with actionable comments for workplace-ready submissions.

Delivery Options

   •   In-Company Programs: Customized to your hazards, processes, and client audits—delivered at SIOETC or on site.
   •   Blended Learning: Online theory plus on-site practicums to reduce downtime while preserving hands-on quality.

Assessment & Certification

The IGC comprises an open-book exam (IG1) and a risk assessment assignment (IG2). We provide exam briefings, assignment workshops, and exemplars so candidates produce credible, auditable submissions that meet NEBOSH criteria and workplace expectations.

Implementation Support (Optional)
   •   Post-course reviews of your actual RAs, PTWs, and LOTO plans
   •   Targeted refreshers on high-risk tasks (hot work, confined spaces, work at height)
